FRE 320 - Husbands, Wives and Lovers

Study of representations of female adultery in French literature and film, with emphasis on the social stereotypes and cultural myths at play in French fiction. Typical authors: Flaubert, Barbey d’Aurevilly, Balzac, Sand, Maupassant, Mérimée.

Students entering 2012: satisfies the distribution requirement in Literary Studies, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric.
Students entering before 2012: satisfies distribution requirement in literature.

Any course numbered French 220 or above, or permission of the instructor. (Fall 2012)
