Staff

This seminar explores youth as both an object and subject of cultural production, addressing the various ways that young people consume, produce, and live in their cultures. In addition to learning about the meaning and significance of historic and contemporary youth cultural formations and subcultural groups, students will conduct extensive independent research projects, practicing several different sociological methods including ethnographic observation, in-depth interviewing, and discourse and content analysis.
