The world history of garden design as a manifestation of humanity’s ever-changing relationship with the natural world. Important gardens and their creators will be studied in light of the theology, politics, architecture, painting, theatre and stage design, poetry, and philosophy that shaped them. Satisfies depth and breadth course requirement in the Humanities track of the Environmental Studies major or interdisciplinary minor.

Satisfies the Visual and Performing Arts distribution requirement.
