LAT 322 - Roman Lyric and Elegy: Horace Instructor

Quintus Horatius Flaccus dominated the genre of Latin lyric poetry, imbuing his own Roman world with the meters of Greek lyric. This course examines a wide range of his lyric subjects, but focuses on personal lyric (which includes the poet’s genius at making even the ostensibly political personal).
Satisfies Literary Studies, Creative Writing, and Rhetoric distribution requirement.
Counts towards the Classical Languages and Literature major and as an elective for the Classical Studies major.
Counts towards the minor in Latin and the interdisciplinary minor in Global Literary Theory.
Prerequisites & Notes Latin 201 or placement test. Students who have already taken a LAT course beyond 201 should enroll in this course as LAT 322
