  • Founded: By Presbyterians in 1837.

  • Campus: 665 acres with 123 buildings in Davidson, N.C., 19 miles north of Charlotte, plus 110 acres on Lake Norman offering water sports.

  • Enrollment (fall, 2021): 1,973 (47% male, 53% female)

  • Comprehensive Fee (2021-2022 year:): $72,840

  • Full-time Faculty: 198 - 97 percent of whom hold an earned doctorate or other terminal degree in their field. Tenured/Tenure Track Faculty: 164.

  • Library: Librarians work with faculty to teach students information literacy and build a collection of print and online resources tailored to Davidson course work.  The main library is open 107 hours a week, and includes a 24-hour room. Total library collections of over 480,000 print volumes, more than 160,000 online journals, 800+ databases, and many other resources - music scores and recording, government documents, Davidsoniana, rare books.

  • Information Technology: Services and products for academic computing, both on-campus and in the cloud, administrative operations, Internet access, software, email and other distributed computing services. Campus-wide gigabit network; wireless networks in all academic, administrative, and residential buildings and many outdoor areas; networked computer labs and classrooms with Windows and Macintosh computers available to all students for general use.

  • Degrees Offered: B.A., B.S. in 32 majors, plus Interdisciplinary Studies.

  • Off-Campus Programs: See International Perspectives in Academic Programs and Policies Section for more information.  Davidson-sponsored programs include semester programs in Paris, France; Madrid, Spain, Arequipa, Peru, and Shanghai, China. College-sponsored summer programs are offered in Cádiz, Spain; Cambridge, England; Legon, Ghana; Mwandi, Zambia and elsewhere.  Davidson-sponsored domestic options include a political science program in Washington, D.C.; and a program in psychology in Morganton, N.C. More than 100 non-Davidson international and domestic semester, year, or summer and winter break program options are available.

  • Athletics: 21 intercollegiate teams - eleven men’s and ten women’s. Thirteen club sports and numerous intramural sports.
