ANT 252 - Ancient Maya Civilization Instructor

An exploration of ancient Maya Civilization, from its beginning, ca.2,000 BCE, to its clash with European invaders, ca. 1.500 CE. Emphasis will be placed on the chronological transformations and geographical variability in the: 1) Interactions between people and their environment; 2) Architecture, technology, art, and writing system; 3) Settlement and urbanism; 4) Political organization; 5) Economy and trade; and 6) Ideology and Religion.
