THE 235 - Fundamentals of Stage Design

This course is an introduction to the tools, techniques, and processes that constitute designing scenery, costumes, and lighting for the stage. Students will practice creating visual compositions and learn the vocabulary and tools necessary for theatre artists to effectively communicate design ideas to each other and to the audience. The class will create a foundation for further work in theatrical design and help students grow as artists, communicators, and theatre practitioners. These methods will be taught through the use of lectures, discussions, exercises, critique and self-reflection, and projects.
