ARB 336 - Arab Life and Politics via film (In translation) Instructor

This course will examine the experience of everyday life in contemporary Arab cities in the Middle East and North Africa through the lens of film. Students will gain a better understanding of how current events, and local and global dynamics shape culture(s) in the Arab region. In this course, students will critically interpret issues related to sociopolitical categories such as gender/sexuality, nation, identity, class, war and revolution, and border movements. The course will provide students with the opportunity to improve their advanced Arabic-language skills while increasing their knowledge of culture and politics in the MENA region.
