ANT 210 - Maroon Societies

Maroon Societies, is an in-depth exploration of Captive African maroon societies through the lens of archaeology, examining the rich cultural heritage and historical significance of communities formed by self-liberated enslaved Africans in the Americas. In this course, students will examine the archaeological remains of maroon settlements, analyze material culture, spatial organization, and subsistence practices of African descendant communities to understand the social, political, and economic power of these resilient communities.
