THE 232 - Introduction to Scene Painting: Faux to Finished Instructor
Tripathi
From Broadway backdrops to theme-park castles, scene painting is the art of transforming blank surfaces into believable worlds. This course introduces students to the methodologies that scenic artists use to make wood look like marble, canvas read like brick, and paint shimmer like water. The class will explore the techniques, tools, and creative processes that guide artists by experimenting with hands-on projects. The course aims to deliver a new perspective on how scene painting can shape the way we experience live performance. No theatre or art background is required-just curiosity and a willingness to get messy.
