BIO 311 - Human Physiology +Lab

Instructor
Barsoum

An advanced discussion of the integrated biology of humans. Students will consider physiological phenomena from the molecular and cellular to the systemic level. Topics include the nervous, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and reproductive systems. The biochemical and biophysical principles underlying the function of these systems will be examined. Anatomy will be introduced as a means to understanding function. Students will analyze and present primary research literature in mammalian physiology. In the laboratory, students will observe physiological phenomena and record quantitative physiological data under controlled conditions. This course is intended to provide pre-allied health students with the physiology lab credit that may be required before pursuing post-graduate study.

Satisfies an upper-level elective requirement in the Biology major.
DOES NOT satisfy any Group A or B lab requirement in the Biology major.
Satisfies an elective requirement in the Neuroscience minor.
