SPA 260 - Conversation and Composition Instructor
Sánchez-Sánchez
Spanish 260 is a writing-and speaking-intensive course in Spanish based on the training and practice of written and oral Spanish to develop fluency and accuracy when formulating complex ideas in the target language.
Along with increasing student’s oral and written accuracy in Spanish, this course also aims to broaden the cultural competence of the Hispanic world both in Spanish-speaking countries and in the U.S. and develop analytical skills in Spanish. To this end students will be required to engage critically with the topics that we will encounter in an eclectic group of oral, textual, and visual sources and diverse materials selected for this class. Students will work on their oral and written skills in Spanish by employing an interdisciplinary approach to examine and question, themes, ideas, and artistic expressions that serve as a representative sample of the ethos of the Hispanic world.
Conducted in Spanish. Requires a conversation session with an Apprentice Teacher once a week. This course should be taken before 271 and/or 272, and is strongly recommended for students planning to study abroad.
Satisfies major and minor Hispanic Studies requirements.
Prerequisites & Notes Spanish 201 or its equivalent.
