Most important literary works of major contemporary writers from Latin America (short fiction, el gótico andino, graphic narrative, and films studied against a background of recent history and relevant ideologies, affective narrative strategies,and theoretical interpretations. Conducted in Spanish.

Satisfies Area V for the major in Hispanic Studies.
Counts towards Latin American Studies as well as the interdisciplinary minor in Global Literary Theory.
Students entering before 2012: satisfies the Literature requirement.
Satisfies Post 1800 requirement.

Spanish 260 and 271, or 272 or their equivalents.
