Instructor
Rippeon

This is a production-oriented course that introduces students to various aspects of small-press and artist’s-book production, including flat and folded book structures, ‘zines and chapbooks, and artists’ books. Through theoretical and craft-oriented readings, and by exploring materials in Special Collections and the VAC, students will consider such questions as how material form intersects with literary content, how small-press and artists’-book production stands in relation to social and historical contexts, and how the material form of the book may respond to (and incorporate) emerging media.
