Introductory survey of the British literary tradition in poetry, drama, and narrative during the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Eighteenth Century, with special emphasis on Chaucer, Shakespeare, Donne, and Milton.

Students who major in English should compete 240 by the end of the sophomore year. Those who cannot meet this deadline must make special arrangements with the Chair.

Open to seniors by permission of the chair during Drop/Add.
