Study of Aztec and Mixtec religion, ritual, and philosophy as exemplified in works of art, architecture and civic planning, literary works, and painted books (codices). Case studies include the Aztec Great Temple, the Codex of Borgia, and the Codex Nuttall, as well as the art of the ancestral city of Teotihuacan.
