ART 215 - Introduction to Print Media Instructor

This course is a broad survey of print media techniques- including etching, lithography, woodcut, and monotype. Traditional and digital processes will be introduced along with lectures about their use in the contemporary art world and throughout art history. Students will learn through hands-on experimentation with the various processes culminating in an individualized final project developed by each student. There is a civic engagement element to the course including using printmaking skills to collaborate with local organizations working with artists with intellectual disabilities.
Satisfies a major requirement in Art.
Students entering 2012 and after: satisfies Visual and Performing Arts distribution requirement.
Students entering before 2012: satisfies Fine Arts distribution requirement.
