FRE 230 - Québec Through Film

An introduction to contemporary Québec society as portrayed in film, with a focus on questions of individual and collective identities.  Students will develop critical skills as readers of film as they examine feature films, documentaries, and animated short subjects.  Typical directors include Arcand, Dolan, Jutra, Pool and Vallée.  Prerequisite: FRE 201 or above.  Students who have completed a course beyond FRE 201 should enroll in FRE 350.
