ECO 223 - Law and Economics

This course is an application of microeconomic theory to the analysis of laws and legal institutions with particular attention to areas of common law such as Property, Torts, and Contracts. It critically examines the legal arguments and rulings in each of these areas, explores economic theories behind such common law disputes, and assesses whether laws provide incentives for socially optimal behavior.  Prerequisite: Economics 101.
