COM 328 - Social Media Communication Instructor
Martinez
The oldest and most trusted form of human communication is word of mouth. The most developed and pervasive is mass media. Now comes social media, incorporating the qualities of both: word of mouth at the speed of light. Its existence, effects, and widespread usage will anchor the focus of this course as social media platforms indeed amplify and alter our communication modes and styles. We will contemplate how social media works and where the various platforms are taking our world. Students will explore the underpinnings of social media and impacts on culture, media, politics and business. This course is intended for Communication Studies majors or minors with previous Communication Studies elective experience.
