CHE 340 - Experimental Inorganic Chemistry Instructor
Anstey
A survey of experimental methods for the synthesis, isolation and purification, identification, and characterization of inorganic compounds.
Prerequisites & Notes Chemistry 240.
This course qualifies as a lecture with a laboratory in the Chemistry curriculum. The laboratory will examine the course content through a semester-long exploratory research project. All students will partake in the research process as a team, asking and answering research questions through experimentation.
Like other labs in the Chemistry department, there will be approximately three hours of lab instruction each week of the semester. However, to accommodate this research experience, the timing of those hours will be coordinated at the start of each successive week to accomplish that week’s research tasks. The student will have flexibility in scheduling, including the use of multiple short blocks of time instead of a single three-hour block. Students will not be asked to work alone or without supervision.
