This course examines the ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of artificial intelligence. Through fiction, film, historical and theoretical readings, and hands-on work with AI tools and techniques, students will explore critical questions about AI and machine learning. The course will also critique representations of AI in popular culture. The course places a particular emphasis on understanding the intersection of AI with power, justice, labor, and the environment. This course does not count for the Computer Science major or minor.
