COM 272 - News Producing

This course will give students practical experience in television news producing: finding stories, conducting interviews, shooting video, writing scripts, and editing elements to produce final pieces.  Both live television and documentary-style coverage will be considered and practiced.  The class will discuss investigations, the use of social media in journalism, and legal and ethical considerations when news gathering and reporting.  Coursework will include case studies of recent and current national news coverage and conversations with journalists reporting those stories.  

Satisfies English major and minor requirement.
