PSY 359 - Advanced Seminar: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Organizations Instructor

This course will address a range of topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in organizations. We will discuss the meaning of DEI both past and present, biases, discrimination, and strategies (individual and organizational) for enhancing inclusion. We will learn about these topics though the lens of industrial-organizational psychology which is rooted in understanding workplace phenomena through psychological theory and empirical study. We will learn about relevant theories, methods of research, and empirical evidence to understand and evaluate claims. This course will focus on the consumption, evaluation, and production of empirical psychological research; however, we will at times incorporate other sources such as news articles, book chapters, interdisciplinary work, and perspectives pieces. Interdisciplinary thinking is encouraged.
