ANT 109 - African Diaspora Archaeology Instructor

This introductory course covers the thematic and methodological approaches associated with the historical archaeology of the African Diaspora. Students interested in Africana studies, ‘race,’ historical archaeology, or the maritime archaeology of the Transatlantic Slave Trade should find this course useful. The course covers archaeological research throughout the wide geographical breadth of the African Diaspora in Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, and East and West Africa. Students will be introduced to major debates within the subfield and explore topics such as ‘race,’ Black liberation, and ethics.
